Speakers: 

Prof. XIANG Biao

Born (1972) and raised in China, Xiang Biao is currently a director of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Germany, and was a Professor at the University of Oxford before that. He has worked on migration and social changes in China, India and other parts of Asia. He is now exploring a “common concerns approach” in social research.

Prof. PANG Laikwan

Pang Laikwan is Choh-Ming Li Professor of Cultural Studies at CUHK. She is the author of a few books, including, most recently, One and All: The Logic of Chinese Sovereignty (Stanford UP, 2024). Her current research projects include the relation between law and life as well as the philosophical landscape of Late Qing China.
