Prof. Cheung Likkwan and Prof. Wu Kaming have been invited to be a speaker of the 21st biennial conference of the European Association for Chinese Studies from 23 to 28 August 2016 at  St. Petersburg University in Russia. Prof. Cheung will present a paper entitled “Philosophy of Life and Buddhism for Human Life: On Qu Qiubai and Taixu’s Reception of Bergsonism” in the panel of “World Literature, Hybrid Modernity and the Creative Transformation of Chinese Tradition”. Prof. Wu Kaming will present a paper entitled “Volunteering and the Making of Citizens in Beijing” in the panel of “Fragmented Authoritarianism 3.0: Political Encounters, Engagement and Activism in the Ethnography of Contemporary China” More information of the Conference can be found at http://www.eacs2016.spbu.ru/conference-information/.
