Prof. Lim Song Hwee has been invited by the Hong Kong Studies programme, the University of Hong Kong to speak at the symposium on “Thinking Sound in Hong Kong: Practices and Prospects” on 18 May 2018. Prof. Lim will present a paper entitled “The Aural Turn: Gendered Voices in Hou Hsiao-hsien’s Non-Sinophone Films”, examining the human female voice in two films by Hou Hsiao-hsien, namely Café Lumière 咖啡時光 (2003) and Flight of the Red Balloon 紅氣球的旅行 (2007).
